Employers must provide accurate information

Misrepresentation at time of termination a breach of good faith

The Ontario Court of Appeal recently decided in

Halloran v. Crown Cork

(2002 CarswellOnt 2730) that employers are obliged to provide accurate information to employees at the time of termination. Failure to do so may be a breach of the employer’s duty of good faith and fair dealing.
