The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is Ontario legislation that is aimed at making the province completely accessible to persons with disabilities by the year 2025. To accomplish this goal the Ontario government is enacting “Accessibility Standards” targeted at key areas of daily living.
Most organizations in Ontario were required to comply with the first Accessibility Standard, popularly known as the Customer Service Standard, by Jan. 1, 2012. The Customer Service Standard required organizations to develop programs and policies to address how its goods and services will be made accessible to persons with disabilities.
The second Accessibility Standard, the Integrated Accessibility Standards (IAR), is composed of the Employment Standards, the Information and Communication Standards and the Transportation Standards. The IAR has a broad application and most organizations in Ontario are already (or soon will be) required to comply with many of its requirements.

Leah Simon represents management in many areas of employment and labour law, with particular emphasis on employment law, employment agreements, human rights, accommodation and all matters relating to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. Leah is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association (Labour & Employment, Civil Litigation, Constitutional, Civil Liberties & Human Rights, Workers' Compensation, Young Lawyers) and the Law Society of Upper Canada. She also teaches employment law in the Human Resources Management post graduate program at Conestoga College.
Lisa Bolton also represents management in many areas of employment and labour law.
